Hitachino Nest XH (Extra High)

Consider this a filler/backlog entry. I'm just starting my bar review and trying to stabilize a schedule that includes enough time for study, exercise, rest and some relaxation. Of course, my goal is to write at least one entry a week to keep this blog alive.
Belgian-style beer, done well by a Japanese brewery, enjoyed in the Philippines.

hazy, regal mahogany
toffee brown sugar a bit of yeast and alcohol
malty, sweet with trace hop bitterness
medium bodied and carbonated. easily drinkable. beware the 8% abv.
alcohol just slightly present in the finish, should mellow down after a year.

paired with danish blue cheese and aged cheddar. the cheeses were forward and strongly flavored. - the cheddar sharp and the blue pungent, yet the XH held its ground against them.

Hop Wallop

Fried chicken and beer has been a staple comfort food since time immemorial. Spicy food is said to go well with the India Pale Ales, with the bitterness from the hops amplifying the heat from the capsaicin and combining for an intense, lingering, fiery finish.

amber, less than a finger of head (something sounds wrong here) visible carbonation, good, dirty lacing and head retention.
piney, malty nose, more noticeable hops, but Central City really spoiled me. I'm much more used to a beautiful tropical citrus bouquet
definitely hoppier than Hop Devil, but I find the malt sweetness overpowering. bready.
noticeable booziness, despite it being "only" 8.5 abv

Disappointed with this DIPA, other than the nice hop lullabye it sings me. I may not get the usual hop aroma with Victory's beer, but the calming effect is undoubtedly there.

gives the buffalo wings a nice back heat.
